SCHAUFENSTER – A wandering project series for the Zurich Region

SCHAUFENSTER#1 is a walk-through instrument and interactive architecture in the public space. It observes and interprets the sounds and movements in its neighbourhood an translates it in a surprising way. An experience in the Schaufenster is an invitation to question your personal view onto seemingly familiar surroundings in order to inspire new perspectives on what seems so well known. What is present and hidden are awakened to a new life and mix into the perception of the location.
SCHAUFENSTER is an initiative by Dimitri de Perrot / Studio DdP and conceived as a project series for the greater Zurich area. The Object itself and the first version SCHAUFENSTER#1 were conceived in 2021 by Dimitri de Perrot and Li Tavor, composer and architect from Zurich and winner of the Lion d’Or of the Venice Biennale of Architecture 2018. The Object SCHAUFENSTER will be passed on for 2022 and be newly interpreted by other artists as SCHAUFENSTER#2.
LIFE PERFORMANCES @ SCHAUFENSTER #1
SCHAUFENSTER is an independent light, space and sound sculpture that functions as a stand-alone installation. From time to time, it is also used for live performances:
DJ Dimitri de Perrot plays the music of the neighborhood
You bring your favorite records or CDs to the SCHAUFENSTER during its opening hours. Vinyl first! Dimitri de Perrot will wait for you with his turntables and improvise a life concert for you with your music and in direct interplay with the ongoing installation. Well mixed, but not shaken.
Li Tavor - Songs for Spatial Relations
Into the blue hour, when the shop window begins a wonderful metamorphosis, Li Tavor explores the musical potential of spatial dimensions of depth in real time. Can space be “played” like an acoustic instrument? And what kinds of locations open up to us in this newly organized space? By questioning spatial states such as interior and exterior, expanse and closeness, Songs for Spatial Relations invite the audience to lose themselves in the space.
