INTO THE DIRT

INTO THE DIRT
New sound installation by Dimitri de Perrot
Opening @ Festival Archipel 2023 - Geneva, March 31 - April 9 2023

INTO THE DIRT is a sounding floor –  a soil we can listen to, sit or lie down on. It stands in the centre of an urban situation. You can listen to the goings-on in, on and around it - however you like. If we direct our ears to what is happening at foot level, we can focus on the hustle and bustle around us in a completely new way. It's about getting involved in the moment of now and sharpening our senses by becoming aware of our immediate surroundings.

INTO THE DIRT allows us to hear what usually our shoes do. It offers the opportunity to pause for a moment in the midst of the spectacle of everyday life, a small moment for a different perspective: What if we humans are not the centre of attention, but part of a greater whole?

This work is part of a broader research episode for the installative theatre project UNTER UNS on the subject of soil, premiering on 7 November 2024 at the Gessnerallee Zurich. In this context, various works were created around the themes of hearing, soil and coexistence. Further research stations are the sound and wind installation IN THE MIDDLE OF SOMETHING from 21.6. - 23.6.2024 at the Broek Festival / NoNa in Mechelen, Belgium as well as a new version of INTO THE DIRT for the Zürcher Theater Spektakel (15.8. - 1.9.2024).
